The Biden Administration’s movement to reverse the domestic gag rule will result in more individuals having access to low-cost or no-cost sexual and reproductive healthcare services including breast cancer and sexually transmitted infections (STI) screenings, counseling in planning and spacing births and information about the full range of options for pregnant women based on their interest and need.
The current rule forbids any healthcare provider who provides or refers patients for abortions from receiving federal Title X funds for services including contraception and STI screenings.
A public comment period for the proposed new rules ends on May 17.
At Arizona Family Health Partnership, the state’s designated Title X agency, we are greatly encouraged by this action and the impact it will have on the individuals we serve.
